Project-X

What is Project X?

Pioneering a new era in Mental Healthcare environments through a dignified non-visual patient safety aid (NVPSA).

‘Project X’ is a revolutionary digital platform that aids patient observation without compromising their privacy. Unlike cameras, our non-visual sensors can be located in the highest-risk areas without the privacy concerns associated with remote visual surveillance.

The new technology aims to safeguard patient privacy and dignity whilst providing 100% coverage, 100% of the time, in all areas of the bedroom, including the bathroom.

Understanding our approach:

Safehinge Primera’s journey in mental health started when a friend of our co-founders was detained under the mental health act, and everything we do is rooted in this personal motivation to help improve the quality of care and the experience of inpatient environments for everyone.

A big part of our product development road map is refining products based on all stakeholders’ feedback, and capturing evidence for the product’s effectiveness in keeping patients safe and helping improve the quality of care.  Quite simply, products need real-world validation and testing to ensure they are suitable for production.

Our product development processes are thorough and we always design from first principles (ie. a blank sheet of paper) to ensure we create an unbiased brief with deep empathy that captures the views of all stakeholders, including people with Lived Experience. Only at this point do we start considering potential solutions and assessing them against the brief.

Co-production is an essential part of this process at all stages to ensure our designs are equitable. We believe technology can, and should, be an enabler of stronger therapeutic interactions and empower patients and staff with access to insights in a safe way. We always strive to adhere to these principles.

We have almost 20 years of experience designing and delivering products for mental health environments. We have achieved our success by adhering to our principles and we will continue this in our development of Project X as the feedback from all stakeholders, including people with Lived Experience, has been positive and supportive.

From the beginning, we have sought expert independent legal advice on the ethical considerations of our development and product in use. We ensured our ethical framework is adhered to in the involvement of service users and people with lived experience, alongside a wide range of stakeholders.
