Our Safe Door Solutions Shine at Healthcare Design Conference 2023

Our team has just landed (slightly jet-lagged) after a successful trip to New Orleans to attend the HCD Conference 2023. Over the last few days, they have shared their experience and learnings from the annual conference, which they will take to next year's event.

Designing for Better Healthcare, Empowering Recovery!

This year, we chose a bigger space, including more Mental Health products showcasing our Bathroom door and Anti-barricade doorset and introducing our Full-door ligature alarm to the US market.

70% of inpatient suicides occur by hanging.

Over 53% of these deaths involve a door - door handle or door hinges were the most used fixture point.

Previously, and based on feedback, we've noted a disparity in interest between door alarm sensors and our Anti-barricade doorset in the American market. Yet, we decided to take that chance and showcase our door alarm product in person to raise awareness of its innovative design that supports staff to help protect people through vulnerable times and aid patient recovery.

Our Full-door ligature alarm received a better response than we expected, with visitors impressed by the alarm's ability to address the entire door, not just its top. In particular, they liked how the alarm is discreetly built into the door, minimizing ligature risk learning opportunities and ensuring patient safety without compromising aesthetics.

Nightingale Awards 2023

We were thrilled to receive such positive feedback and interest in the product. Not only this but our Full-door ligature alarm was recognized in the Nightingale Awards Ceremony, winning Gold in the Technology-Integrated Solutions, Non-Clinical category.

Daniel-Vonderbrink-PNG-1Daniel VonderBrink, Vice President of Sales, shared: "I am so proud of our Full-door ligature alarm's overwhelmingly positive response. As the only discreetly designed full-door ligature alarm solution on the market, it’s encouraging to see our customers interact with our innovative products and discuss the impact they can have on patient safety and recovery.

"The unexpected recognition of winning the Nightingale Gold Award in the product design awards highlighted our product's impact and value to the healthcare industry. This success motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and delivering solutions that blend safety with aesthetics."

Digital Door: The Power of Data in Mental Health

At the healthcare conference, Philip Ross, our CEO and Co-founder, presented a talk at the Solutions Theatre where he spoke about the power of data in Mental Health and also the journey behind the development of our Full-door ligature alarm.

1da9f0c7-3f98-4121-bf36-ac23e7f67a25Philip emphasized how the alarm includes a live online dashboard to allow staff to check response times and categorize patient incidents. He highlighted that healthcare staff having data at their fingertips enables them to monitor patient behavior patterns, helping to inform the clinical pathway for the patient. Philip stressed that harnessing the insights from data not only enhances patient care but also plays a pivotal role in optimizing treatment strategies, ultimately contributing to more personalized and efficient interventions for quicker patient recovery.

Ultimate patient safety: Zero suicide track record, over 6000 doors sold

Let's not forget about our other behavioral safety products displayed on this year's stand. Our Anti-barricade doorset and Ligature-resistant bathroom door also received a positive response from visitors. Many were amazed by the doorset's seamless staff operation with its ability to gain access to a room in seconds, whilst others praised the bathroom door for its breakaway door releases under a maximum weight of 11lbs to consider people recovering from poor Mental Health that may affect their weight, such as those experiencing eating disorders. The enthusiastic feedback on these products reinforces our commitment to creating solutions that address diverse safety needs within healthcare environments.
