The idea for creating Doora came from a compelling drive to ensure that clinical teams experience the lifesaving features of our products with utmost convenience. Understanding the critical importance of seamless access to innovation, we devised a solution to bring our door sets directly to their facility's doorstep.
This vision materialised into reality, enabling clinical teams to witness firsthand the transformative potential of solutions such as our anti-barricade door system, which in the event of a door barricade, allows staff to access the room in under 5 seconds, or our full-door ligature alarm - the only one in the world to monitor the entire surface of the door, it sends instant alerts to clinical teams if a ligature is attempted on the door.
By facilitating on-site experiences, we empower clinical teams to directly engage with these groundbreaking features, fully grasping their lifesaving impact within their environment. This personalised approach instils confidence and aligns with our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety and well-being.
Doora's journey began to make a tangible difference where it matters most – within the spaces dedicated to healing and care.
Doora's impactful journey extends across the UK and Ireland, where we have engaged in clinical training and demonstrations of our innovative doors for mental health environments. We invite you to join us on that journey to transform institutional mental health spaces together. Our goal is to create a safe space in inpatient facilities while fostering recovery and inspiration.
In the first year after Doora launched, we travelled an astounding distance of 18,000 miles and reached over 50 mental health establishments, such as NHS trusts and private mental healthcare providers. This remarkable achievement underscores our unwavering dedication to creating therapeutic spaces and fortifying clinical teams in their mission to facilitate patient recovery.
As Doora presses forward, we remain firm in our commitment to bridging gaps and championing progress within mental health. Join us in this collective pursuit of cultivating a brighter future for mental health care—a future defined by innovation, compassion, and a relentless focus on patient well-being.
"Today, we had a visit from Safehinge Primera to showcase their doors to our NHS Board staff, specifically their fully alarmed patient bedroom doors. We were met with two friendly, smiling and approachable Safehinge Primera staff that were more than happy to answer all of our questions. I am sure that, at times, they must have felt like they were being interrogated, but it was heartening to see that not once did they shy away from answering any question.
“What was impressive was that when our staff asked patient-specific questions regarding wearable technology as an example, these questions could easily be answered because these scenarios had already been raised as part of the product design that included partnerships with health sector professionals to enable the final product to be as safe as possible.
“Having a product training vehicle was such a valuable addition to the whole process. We got to easily see, test, and touch the products ourselves so we can make a much better-informed decision about how the products can meet our current needs. We also listened to the safety information so we didn't fall out of the vehicle by using the wrong exit door! It was fantastic to hear the clinical staff walking away, talking about the products and discussing their opinions that they had reached.
“Overall, it was a very positive experience and will be very beneficial to the clinical staff for future meetings where decisions need to be agreed about alternative reduced ligature solutions that are required to make our wards a safer environment for patients."
- Alison Moore, Senior Health & Safety Advisor, NHS Highland
