Following our philosophy that good design starts with conversation and observation, we spoke to over 40 of you to gather your feedback on existing ligature-safe handles for mental health.

Clinical staff and experts by experience told us they wanted a handle that offered better grip than existing pull handles, ensuring comfort and practicality on a day-to-day basis. Suregrip's asymmetric design provides double the grip.
Existing handles in Mental Health have a large metal back-plate for durability reasons; however, with some clever engineering, we've managed to retain the robustness of existing handles but with an invisible back-plate.
The hand we use to operate a door depends on which way the door swings. For convenience, Suregrip has been designed to rotate 180º to ensure it can be fitted on any door.
Lead Design Engineer Max travelled around the UK to gain feedback that would inform the design of Suregrip.
He spent months on the road visiting experts by lived experience, clinical staff, architects, estates and capital teams and listening to the challenges of existing handles on the market.
