En-suite door “Highly Commended” at Building Better Healthcare Awards

Just six months after winning the Product Innovation of the Year at the DIMHN Awards 2017, our en-suite door has picked up another commendation – “Highly Commended” in the Interior Product (Furniture and Fixtures) category at the Building Better Healthcare 2017 Awards.

Attended by over 600 healthcare industry professionals – from architects and manufacturers to estate teams to contractors – the annual event was held at The Brewery in central London to celebrate innovation and improvement in the built environment, medical devices, and people working in the healthcare industry.

Compered by stand-up comic and writer Dominic Holland, trophies were handed out in 22 categories, recognising people, products, processes and buildings in the healthcare sector.

 

“Responding directly to a real need”


Described by DIMHN judges as a “lifesaving” product in May 2017, our en-suite door was recognised by the BBH judges as “responding directly to a real need”.  They commented that they “liked the double-door entry, which would fit almost anywhere” and expect it to be “widely embraced”.

Director, Philip Ross, who attended the awards ceremony with colleague, Sebastian Mann, said: “Back in 2014, we won the Best Product for Improving the Patient Experience award at this event and we’re delighted to be recognised by the BBH judges again."

He added: "The interest we’ve received so far by NHS and private care providers has been incredible and supports the judges' prediction that it will be widely embraced.”

 

18-month design process


We’ve been working on the development of this product for more than 18 months – engaging with over 120 individuals across 20 organisations, from architects and installers to service users and maintenance teams.  

It’s this thorough, meticulous process – involving key stakeholders at every stage – that’s resulted in a product that directly meets the needs of those who’ll use it.  It balances robustness, cost, and practicality – without compromising on safety.
