Our Design and Engineering team doubles to six

It’s almost been a year since Safehinge Primera merged and we’re investing further in our design and engineering department – growing from three to six full-time employees.

A sign of our commitment to improving Mental Health environments, this investment will allow us to cope with the long list of products ideas in our development pipeline – all based on feedback from clinicians, estates, and service users.

We believe we’ve made some fantastic progress already with our collapsible anti-barricade stop and en-suite door and have more exciting developments on the way.  The next major development – our intelligent door alarm, is something that when used alongside our en-suite door (and anti-ligature fittings throughout the bedroom) could be the paradigm shift in mental health inpatient care, pushing the ligature risk outside the bedroom.

matt-newMatt Marais – Design Engineer

Matt joined our team this month, having run his own product design business for over 5 years – single-handedly designing, producing and selling camera equipment.  Winning several awards for his design and engineering work, including a Red Dot concept award, it was clear to us that Matt would fit in seamlessly within our product design and engineering team. Matt also brings a skillset in product presentation, video production & consumer insight.

Completing a year with a design consultancy, Max also has commercial design and manufacturing experience. Despite having only started this month, he has already begun to conduct extensive customer research for product development.

Kevin Addie – Continuous Improvement Manager

With 25 years of experience Kevin has worked with world-class automotive parts suppliers to improve the efficiency and quality of components.  Having already visited numerous sites, and key suppliers to understand the full flow of product, Kevin has very quickly delved into his role with us.  Making several key observations for process improvements from production through to installation, we look forward to him implementing these over the coming months.
