Supporting Our People

Our purpose is clear: to help protect people through vulnerable times. And this also extends to supporting our team.

The increasing cost of living caused by rising prices of energy, fuel, food, and wider inflation continues to put great financial pressures on many UK households and businesses.

We recognise the importance of providing financial support to members of our team and continuously review ways to help them with some of those pressures.

We'd like to share some of the recent actions that we, as a company have taken to support our team during this difficult time of financial uncertainty.

Becoming a living wage employer

The campaign for a living wage is a movement of independent businesses, organisations, and citizens who believe a fair day's work deserves a fair day's pay.

It was started by Citizens UK - the national home of community organising, in 2001. Together with communities and activists across the country, the Living Wage Foundation is campaigning to ensure that everyone can earn a real Living Wage that meets living costs, not just the government minimum.


At SHP, we believe that the feeling of financial security can have a positive impact on our team's mental health and general well-being. We've been using the real living wage principles for several years now, but as of this year, we've made it official by becoming an accredited Living Wage Employer!

Helping with the increasing cost of living

At SHP we also continuously review the cost of living and adjust our team's pay accordingly. However, this year we all faced an unprecedented increase in the cost of living following the global energy price crisis, among other increases. 

As a direct response to that crisis, we took some immediate actions to support the team through this turbulent time.

We took those steps with the hope that they will help alleviate some of the burdens that our team is experiencing through rising costs of living and as a result help improve their overall well-being.
