Crosslet House is a 90-bed Older People’s Care Home completed in 2017 as result of a £20m investment programme by West Dunbartonshire Council.  The goal was to create a new, fit-for-purpose facility that created a ‘less clinical and more domestic scale living environment’ for residents.

Drawing on best practice

The state-of-the-art care home has been meticulously designed with careful consideration applied to every aspect of the facility.

The research and attention to detail runs through the buildings; drawing on research into the use of space and colour to make residents feel as comfortable as possible.

Creating safe spaces

West Dunbartonshire Council and Cooper Cromar wanted to create an environment that was both comfortable and safe for residents.

Our integral finger guards were the perfect addition given that they provide safety without compromising the carefully considered interior.

The discreet design not only eliminates the risk of trapped fingers, but also allows the doors to remain familiar and help reduce confusion among residents.

“We have undertaken a significant amount of research to get this right...[and] in-depth consideration has been applied to every area of design"

Phil MacDonald
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Integrated Operations Manager of Care Home Development
