It's been bubbling away for some time - but we can now officially say that we are bringing SHP to the USA!
After a number of transatlantic trips throughout 2019 to understand more about how behavioral health care is provided in the USA, we knew that there was a real demand for safer, non-institutional products designed with patients and clinical staff in mind.
Award-winning bathroom door touted as 'one of a kind'
We exhibited at the Healthcare Design Expo in New Orleans in November and were struck by the excitement expressed by everyone who visited our stand; with one visitor describing our products as 'humanized safety'.

The star of the show on the SHP stand was our award-winning bathroom door. The saloon style is unlike anything else on the market in the US. As well as setting new standards for safety and design, our en-suite door solution restores patient privacy and dignity.
Much like a cubicle door in a health center, the door acts as a partial visual screen yet also allows observation of head and feet to give clinical staff peace of mind.
And our customers love it too - we've now supplied over 150 hospitals here in the UK where it was first developed, 11 hospitals in Australia and we recently supplied a behavioral wellness center in California.

The leaves detach at a minimum of 14 pounds (8kgs) if a ligature is attempted and are available with a staff-only reset option; disrupting patient ligature learning and helping to inform clinical staff when a suicide attempt occurs.
